King of HEarts structured Dome Peplum maxi dress with lace godets

This design was first inspired by the Queen of Hearts, notorious for her impulsive command, “Off with their heads!” Her destructive nature reminded me of political figures whose actions often bring division and heartache. In the midst of this chaos, I found myself turning to God for peace. Rather than centering on the Queen of Hearts, I chose to reframe the story through the King of Hearts.

The pink and red corded lace symbolizes unity within contrast—two opposing shades that, when paired, create striking harmony. This reflects humanity: diverse in appearance yet alike at the core. Just as God created us in His image, this design embodies the belief that even if we are not always “complementary colors,” we can still come together to create something truly beautiful.

This dress is crafted from black double scuba knit and designed with a sweetheart neckline and cutout bodice. The bust is satin-paneled—fuchsia on the wearer’s left and red on the wearer’s right—top applied with coordinating corded lace.

The blouson sleeves are constructed from black Florence stretch lace with a red and fuchsia corded lace underlay, finished with elasticated flutter wrists. Each wrist is adorned with a King of Hearts playing card, sculpted into a bow and tied with matching satin ribbons.

A structured peplum sits on top of a single tiered pencil skirt, split evenly between red corded lace and pink corded lace. The tier features six godets: two in fuchsia corded lace on the wearer’s left, two in red corded lace on the wearer’s right, and two in white Florence stretch lace at the center front and back. Each godet is finished with a King of Hearts playing card bow and coordinating satin ribbon.
